Chakras are energy centers located all over our body. Its name comes from the Sanskrit word for “wheel”. They were first mentioned over 2000 years ago in the ancient Hindu texts called the “Upanishads”. We have many energy centers in our body but the seven major ones are located along our spine from its base to the crown of the head. Each chakra is represented by a colour.
The chakras absorb energy that comes from our thoughts, feelings and especially our environment. Our body is affected by this energy/vibration as it passes through the chakras. For instance, if we are stressed, anxious or worried negative energy will be filtered through our chakras and into our body. Over time this can make our body weak. We are also susceptible to other people’s emotions or a room full of clutter will produce an unhealthy energy which we absorb.
There are many things we can do to change our thoughts and feelings from negative (low vibration) to positive (higher vibration) as well as, to protect ourselves from harmful energy that surrounds us. Keeping our chakras in a balanced state is the key to keeping them spinning.
